Crossing protection devices (UZP)

Crossing protection devices (UZP) are designed to prevent unauthorized entry of vehicles into a railway crossing when the barriers are in the closed position. They are a metal structure installed on a concrete foundation in the roadway between the barrier and the railway track, and are manufactured in accordance with OST 32.200-2002 and TU 32TsP3231-96.

Technical specifications

  • The UZP is powered from a single-phase AC network with a voltage of 220 V and a frequency of 50 Hz;

  • Power consumption from the network – 2 kW;

  • The width of the covered roadway ranges from 6.0 to 10.0 m;

  • Cover lifting time – no more than 5 s;

  • The lifting height of the front beam of the cover from the road surface level is 0.45±0.05 m;

  • The vertical force applied to the raised edge of the cover required for its forced lowering is 100–20 kgf;

  • The lifting and lowering of the cover is carried out by the EP-UZP (EP-UZPA) electric drive with an MSA-0.3 type electric motor;

  • The UZP is designed for 24/7 operation at ambient temperatures from minus 60 to plus 60 °C and belongs to products of the UKhL design, category I according to GOST 15150-69.

The UZP set consists of 4 barrier devices (UZ) and provides the following at a railway crossing with automatic crossing signaling:

  • mechanical fencing of the crossing zone;

  • prevention of vehicles entering the fenced crossing;

  • provision of an exit for vehicles that are in the crossing zone after it has been fenced;

  • detection of vehicles in the UZ cover zone when the crossing is fenced;

  • informing the duty worker about the technical condition.

The use of the UZP is the only means that completely prevents unauthorized entry of vehicles into the railway crossing.
